LANSING — Governor Gretchen Whitmer has signed an executive order that limits indoor gatherings, and closes indoor services for bars.

Starting July 31st, statewide indoor gatherings will be limited to 10 people and bars will be closed for indoor service across the state, including in Regions 6 and 8.   The Upper Peninsula is in Region 8.

The executive order comes as large social gatherings that took place over the past few months led to outbreaks, such as a 50 cases being traced to a single house party in Saline, Michigan. The outdoor gathering limits will remain at 250 in Regions 6 and 8.

Casinos in the Detroit area will be allowed to open August 5th, at 15% capacity.

Establishments that earn more than 70% of their gross receipts from alcoholic beverage sales must cease indoor services, starting July 31st.
