GWINN — Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the 2020 Marquette County Fair has been canceled.
The Marquette Fair Board says that they waited as long as possible to make decision and felt like this was the best route to go.
“The reason we held off so long is because, we was hoping that there would be some big revelation where all of sudden we can meet in big groups again,” said Walt Maki, President of the Marquette County Fair Board. “But we came to the point now where we actually have to start spending a lot of money to get the fair up and ready to go and if we’re not going to have a fair, then we had to call it now before we spent all that money.”
Maki says that there will be major remodeling to the fairgrounds since it won’t be occupied every weekend this summer.
The fair will return August.12th, 13th, and 14th of 2021.
