Marquette summer events canceled due to COVID-19
MARQUETTE — Due to the COVID–19 outbreak, the Marquette Downtown Development Authority has canceled multiple summer events.
Originally, the Blueberry Festival, Music on 3rd, and Classic Cars on 3rd were scheduled to take place during the months of June and July, but have now been canceled entirely.
“I think a lot of business owners are sad to hear the news of the cancelations,” said Tara Laase–McKinney, Promotions and Events Coordinator for the Marquette Downtown Development Authority. “At the same time, there is a lot of understanding going on. People definitely want to be safe and they want to know that we’re looking out for their safety as well. While we are sad as well, we’re just looking out for everybody’s best interest and safety.”
All three events have officially been rescheduled for the summer of 2021.
The Blueberry Festival is scheduled for July 30th, 2021, Music on Third will occur on the third Thursday of June, July, and August, and The Classic Cars on Third Car Show is scheduled for August 21st, 2021. Marquette Downtown Development encourages residents to continue supporting local business during this pandemic.
