MARQUETTE — The Peter White Public Library may be closed, but some of the services they provide are still being offered online.
One such service is Meditate Marquette. Instructed by Jeremy Morelock, a 17–year practitioner of meditation, the course focuses on mindfulness and introspection. Morelock believes that now more than ever people could benefit from the tranquility and escapism provided by silent meditation.
“Well basically, the most simple practice that we start with is a meditation on your own breath,” said Morelock. “It’s not breathing a specific way, it’s just taking a pause. Not even when you’re meditating formally, but just anytime throughout the day you can do this little pause where you notice your breathing, and that, actually, has been proven to cause a positive feedback loop from the body and mind connection.”
