NMU’s Senior Art Exhibition moved to online format
MARQUETTE — With museums across the state closing due to the COVID–19 pandemic, one local museum is adjusting how one of their signature showcases is viewed.
The DeVos Art Museum, located on NMU’s campus, is moving their senior art exhibition to an online format.
Although this removes the experience of seeing these art pieces in–person, this move gives the seniors the credit they deserve, while maintaining a healthy distance.
“We thought that this was a good solution to be able to share their work with a broader audience, not harm anyone or put anyone in sort of a risk, and to celebrate their accomplishments while they’ve been at NMU,” said Emily Lanctot, curator of the DeVos Art Museum.
Seniors can submit up to 5 of their own works, along with information about each piece. The presentation of three awards, which are given out each semester and are sponsored by NMU faculty, will be live streamed for seniors as well.
The website featuring the senior exhibit will open April 27th.
