MARQUETTE — With the holidays quickly approaching, families and students alike gathered to bring in the season.

Held at NMU’s Northern Center, Lighting up the Holidays featured things for every member of the community to enjoy.

“Well, I think the event is for us marking the beginning of the holiday season,” said Fritz Erickson, President of NMU. “I know our students enjoy it, our faculty and staff for their families also enjoy it, and of course so many people in the community come out and engage with us. It’s great, too, because we have so many of our students here, our cheerleaders, our athletes, our students from departments all over campus are here helping us celebrate.”

NMU athletes and students assisted with arts and crafts tables, while kids could also have fun with games and face paintings.

NMU’s cheerleaders and New Attitudes Dancers gave special performances for attendees.

Of course, the big man in red made an appearance, taking pictures and present requests for everyone, young and old.
