D.J. Jacobetti Home for Veterans hosts annual carnival

MARQUETTE — A local veterans organization held its annual member carnival today.

The D.J. Jacobetti Home for Veterans puts on this carnival every year on their property, giving veterans a chance to get outside and have fun. Veterans and their families spent the afternoon enjoying activities such as games, a petting zoo, a dunk tank, and live music.

“This is a once a year event just to have fun,” said D.J. Jacobetti Activity Coordinator Shari Smith. “The local fair is kind of a big thing to do, but a lot of members might not have the energy to do it. So having it on our home court is fun for them. We’re all about giving back to them.”

The D.J. Jacobetti Home for Veterans says they’re hoping the event will be even bigger next year. They are looking forward to having local businesses partner with them to make the carnival even better for the veterans and their loved ones.
