McBroom, Markkanen meet with concerned citizens in coffee hour
BARAGA — Upper Peninsula citizens got the opportunity to meet with two local politicians in Baraga, to voice their concerns.
State Senator Ed McBroom and State Representative Greg Markkanen held a coffee hour earlier today, to answer questions and take note of any issues citizens brought up.
“We get a lot of phone calls and emails,” said State Senator Ed McBroom. “I try as hard as I can to respond to that, but there’s nothing like face-to-face, one-on-one personal interaction with people, so I’ve always tried to hold these kinds of meetings.”
A wide variety of issues were brought up for the politicians to bring back to Lansing.
“Water quality issues, we have road issues, we have issues with property in the townships within the county,” added State Representative Greg Markkanen. “These are all issues that we need to work on in a collaborative manner together to solve them.”
Both Senator McBroom and representative Markkanen stress the importance of events like these, for the transparency it creates between citizens and their government.
