Military member shot on New Year’s
BERRIEN, MI — Police say a military member, who was home visiting family for the holidays, was shot and killed in Berrien County on Monday night.
The St. Joseph Township Police Department was dispatched at 11:10 p.m. on Monday to a home on Colfax Avenue, just north of Benton and Riverview parks, regarding a shooting incident.
When officers arrived, they found 23–year–old Tyrone Hassell III with multiple gunshot wounds.
The victim was transported to Spectrum Lakeland Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.
It’s not clear which branch of the military Hassell belonged to.
The shooting is still under investigation at this time.
