Law Enforcement urges safety during New Years Eve

MARQUETTE COUNTY — As 2018 comes to an end people are making plans to ring in the New Year.

For many adults the festivities will include the consumption of alcohol.

The Michigan State Police is reminding the public about the importance of planning for safe travels this weekend.

“Have a plan off the bat, whether you are getting a cab, a designated driver, or if you’re going to walk. Be careful and just go into it with a plan, so you know what you are going to be doing that night,” said Trent Pacheco, Michigan State Trooper.

For people who are hosting a get together to ring in the New Year remember to never let your guest drink and drive, and to have non–alcoholic beverages available.

It is also imperative to program the taxi service’s number in your phone before you head out.
