Panel presentation explains importance of Hospice Care
MARQUETTE — The Northern Center for Lifelong Learning presented a panel discussion titled “Under the Care of Hospice” at Mill Creek Assisted Living this morning.
A panel of experts provided information regarding the various components of hospice care, as well as details about the newly constructed Trillium House facility. Representatives from Lake Superior Life Care and Hospice were on hand to explain what hospice care truly is – a philosophy of care.
“We’re partnering with the Northern Center for Lifelong Learning because we want to spread the word about Hospice,” said CEO of Lake Superior Life Care and Hospice, Sue Rutowski. “What we often find is that folks come to us so late – that there’s only a matter of days or a week or two before their loved one passes. The earlier that our patients come to us, the more that we can do for them in terms of helping them to reach their goals.”
Rutowski also says that the new Trillium House is providing a place of residence for patients, and making them feel more at home during difficult times.
