Negaunee Planning Commission moves forward with T-Mobile
NEGAUNEE — On Tuesday night the Negaunee Planning Commission met to move forward with the plan of adding a cellular antenna to the city water tower.
T-Mobile approached them wanting to set up the antenna to hopefully get into the Upper Peninsula.
The antenna would be placed next to the antenna owned by Verizon Wireless.
As the U.P. is growing, T-Mobile is looking to be another competitor in the market.
“More options instead of just a two providers, the third option provides more competition. Hopefully we can see good competition in the area for mobile services,” said David Nelson, Planning and Zoning Administrator.
The Negaunee City Council does have the ultimate decision on this plan.
If the plan does go through the next step will be for T-Mobile to pull their building permits and start building the antenna structure.
