Harborfest Music Festival kicks off

MARQUETTE — Despite the rainy weather Friday afternoon, many people joined celebrations at Mattson Lower Harbor Park, as Harborfest kicked off.

The two day music festival features Bumpus out of Chicago Friday evening, and Live Bullet Detroit on Saturday, as well as many other local musicians. Besides music, a classic car and motorcycle show, inflatable games for kids, a craft beer and wine tent, and much more are all available for everyone’s enjoyment. Harborfest has been an ongoing tradition for over 20 years.

“Marquette West Rotary hosts the event every year we put this on,” said President of Marquette West Rotary Club, Amanda Filizetti. “Every year for the past few years, we’ve raised about $35,000, and that money – every penny of it – goes right back into the community through our Marquette West Foundation.”

The festival, which is free to all, continues on Saturday, opening at 12:30pm, with events scheduled all the way until 11pm.
