UPDATE: Fatal 2-vehicle accident in Ishpeming

ISHPEMING — On Monday at 2:28pm, the Ishpeming Police Department responded to a fatal two-vehicle accident on US 41 at the intersection of Malton Road.

Officers established that a  64-year-old Marquette man, Terry Orlich, was driving a white 2018 Lincoln Navigator westbound on US 41 approaching the intersection. A northbound, 85-year-old Champion man, Robert Emanuelson, in a tan 2005 Buick LeSabre, failed to yield the right of way and attempted to cross the highway and into a parking lot, pulling out in front of the Navigator.

The driver of the Navigator could not avoid the collision, and struck the LeSabre on the passenger side. Upon arriving on the scene, officers found two injured people. Orlich was transported to UPHS – MGH Emergency room by EMS for non-life threatening injuries, while the passenger of the LeSabre, Carrie Emanuelson, a 82 year old Champion woman, died on scene.

Both vehicles had to be towed from the area. Multiple agencies from Ishpeming, Negaunee, and Marquette assisted on scene.
