UPDATE: Adult female in custody for making ‘terroristic threat’ towards Escanaba Public Schools
UPDATE: Friday, May 18th at 4:45 p.m.
Escanaba Public Safety was alerted of a threat of violence towards persons at Escanaba High School. Officers responded to the scene and investigated the incident, and found the threat to be credible.
The suspect, an adult female, was arrested for making a terroristic threat. She is currently lodged at the Delta County Jail.
Escanaba Public Safety remained on scene until the students were dismissed for the day.
No more information is being released at this time.
ESCANABA –All schools in the Escanaba Public Schools system is currently under a precautionary lock down.
A non-specific tip was made to OK2SAY on Friday afternoon, warning of a threat against the junior high school. According to a Facebook post, administration did not believe that students were in imminent danger, but Escanaba Public Safety was still brought in to monitor both the junior high and the high school.
Both schools were placed under a precautionary lock down. The administration and Public Safety then placed all other campuses in precautionary lock down as well.
All campuses will remain in precautionary lock down until dismissal. Dismissal will occur at the regular time. The junior and high school will implement an organized dismissal, while all other campuses will dismiss normally.
Police will maintain a presence as students are released. Buses are to run on their usual schedule.
