Committee brunch kicks off ‘2018 Beautification Season’
ISHPEMING — Local gardeners are rejoicing now that warmer weather is consistently in the forecast, and one group of dedicated agriculturists met Wednesday morning to discuss the upcoming season.
The Ishpeming Beautification Committee held their annual brunch to kick-off the 2018 Beautification Season. The committee manages dozens of flower beds around the city, including the ones at Lake Bancroft and outside of Ishpeming City Hall.
Committee members and volunteers discussed how last season went and made a few announcements regarding the upcoming season.
“We like to meet with our volunteers because they’re our biggest asset. We really enjoy seeing them and mingling with them,” said Linda Andriacchi, the chair of the Ishpeming Beautification Committee. “We’re looking for an amazing, amazing gardening year for our city of Ishpeming.”
This season, the committee has purchased six new hanging baskets to adorn city streets. A plan to add a new flower bed at Division Street and Lakeshore Drive is also in the works.
