No injuries reported in early morning structure fire

ESCANABA — There were no injuries reported following a structure fire in Escanaba early Sunday morning.

At 5:02 a.m., Escanaba Public Safety was dispatched to 327 North 14th Street on report of a structure fire. When officers arrived to the scene, they noticed heavy smoke and flames coming from the back of the residence.

The fire was quickly brought under control and was eventually knocked down after officers made an interior and exterior attack of the building. Officers were on the scene for about three and a half hours putting out hotspots.

No injuries were reported in the fire. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

The Delta County Sheriff’s Department, Ford River Volunteer Fire Department, the American Red Cross, DTE, Rampart and Escanaba City Electric assisted on the scene.
