Building condemned in downtown Escanaba

ESCANABA — A building in downtown Escanaba has been labeled as condemned.

The building that was once Performance Audio shop on Ludington Street has been abandoned for years. For a number of years the City Council and the Downtown Development Authority team has been trying to get the building repaired.

Now it’s come to the point where they just want to get the building torn down.

“The building right now is a hazard for anyone walking on the sidewalk or really standing where I am right now. It is very weak and it may fall, we want it taken down before anyone is hurt,” said Marc Tall, Mayor of Escanaba.

The property owner has been ignoring the City Councils petition to take the building down. The city is hoping the property owner will step forward, in hopes of making the area more community friendly.
