MARQUETTE — It’s almost time for another round of outhouse races, and Team Poop on Cancer is at it again. The Trenary Outhouse Races are coming up this Saturday. Team Poop on Cancer, a veteran of the race is ready to rock with their newest outhouse. They’ll be there to get the word out about breast cancer, warning signs, and support.

“The Trenary Outhouse races give us a fun way to do that,” said team captain MaryAnn Bernier. “We go out, we raise awareness, we raise funds for the wig salon at UP Health System, and it’s just a great time.”

Bernier is a survivor of breast cancer, as is the sister of Carol Mills. The event allows them to fight for a cause that has meant so much to them.

“It’s very important. It’s important to my sister to continue supporting a cause which impacted her life so, so much,” said Mills, who is on the team’s support staff.

“There’s so many people in my life I know that have had cancer,” said Bernier. “So I think it’s important to let people know that it’s okay to talk about it, to support each other, and to make sure people are aware of services that are available.”

Team Poop on Cancer has raised over $4,000 so far. Donations can be made at the race or on their GoFundMe page. For a link to the page, click here.
