UPDATE: Speed and alcohol believed to be factors in Alger County snowmobile accident

The victim has been identified as Jordan Michael Randall of Port Huron, MI. He is listed in serious condition at UP Health Systems.


ALGER COUNTY — Excessive speed and alcohol are believed to be factors in a snowmobile accident that sent a man to the hospital.

At 11:30 p.m. on Sunday, the Alger County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a single snowmobile personal injury accident on Trail #8 near the M-28/Shingleton intersection. The report indicated that a 34 year-old male had exited the trail and traveled into a creek.

The victim was estimated to be lying on the scene for 45 minutes prior to being discovered.  The victim was ultimately transported to U.P. Health Systems by Valley Med Flight.

Excessive speed and alcohol are believed to be factors in the accident. The accident remains under investigation.

The Alger County Sheriff’s Office, Alger County Rescue “21” Unit and Alger EMS responded to the scene.
