Cabin fundraiser benefits Great Lakes Recovery Center

DEERTON — Great Lakes Recovery Center held a fundraiser last night capturing the area’s historic past while supporting needed programs in the community. The Peter White Family cabin fundraiser was held at the cabins themselves, where the White family has spent quite some time at in the past.

This upscale garden party featured a number of exciting activities from birch bark canoe rides to some appearances from the initial dignitaries of the cabins.

“It’s an opportunity to see a very historic area and at the same time benefit an agency that does a huge amount of good throughout the Upper Peninsula,” said Raymond Amtmann, president of the Board of Directors for GLRC.

All the proceeds from the event will go towards a variety of programs that are offered by Great Lakes Recovery Center. Some of these include art and recreational therapy among the youth residential services offered.

Members of the organization are working to continue empowering recovery through hope and change.
