More in store for local hockey shop
MARQUETTE– A local hockey shop in downtown Marquette is currently undergoing an expansion to help meet the community demand.
Superior Hockey is now the sole hockey shop in the city of Marquette.
This spring the store decided to triple their inventory to take care of the whole community. The new spot will still be located in Lakeview Arena and is looking to open the week after Labor Day.
“Our old store was a little tight and compacted, so this way it gives our customers a little more room to browse without having to be on top of each other,” co owner Scott Nevenhoven said. “We’re excited, it’s a little nerve racking being the only place in town a lot of pressure but we’ve had a lot of people come in, and you know real happy for us and supportive.”
“When we originally got into this in 2013, we knew our first move had to be to get as close to the action as we possibly could,” co owner Dan Beerman said. “We feel that there is no better spot than Marquette’s Lakeview Arena to host a hockey store.”
Superior Hockey is also expanding repair services such as skates and gloves. The owners said they are currently looking for hockey minded people to hire
