Free music festival coming to local sculpture park
MARQUETTE — After a two year break, a free music festival is returning to the area, bringing over a dozen local musicians and family friendly entertainment.
Free the Music Fest is returning to Lakenenland this weekend, starting Friday at 5 P.M. The festival will feature 17 different bands, food and art vendors, along with free camping on site. Organizing this event has been about six months in the making.
This music festival is slightly different than most because it’s completely free of charge.
“It’s a good family event that is fun; you can come listen to music for free. Most music festivals are $60-$70 to attend but it’s just a free event with lots of good music,” said Free the Music Fest Organizer, Cody Lakenen.
The event will continue on Saturday, starting at noon. You can also spot the Organizer Cody Lakenen, performing tomorrow with his band. With limited parking, shuttle buses will also be available to and from downtown Marquette throughout the evening.
