Escanaba selects three finalists for city manager position
ESCANABA — The City of Escanaba has narrowed its search for a new city manager down to three people. A total of 51 people applied for the position.
All three men have ties to the Upper Peninsula. Darcy Long is currently the City Administrator and Zoning Administrator in Amery, Wisconsin.
He attended Northern Michigan University, where he earned his Master’s Degree in Public Administration.
Jeff Thornton is the second candidate. He just completed a nearly five-year run as City Manger of Negaunee, before Thornton and the Negaunee City Council mutually agreed to part ways Monday night.
And William Yost of L’Anse is the owner of Flat Fish USA. At one time, Yost was the Village Manager of Baraga.
Interviews for the position will take place in about a month. Current Escanaba City Manager Jim O’Toole is retiring in July.
