City to host ‘Roundabout Safety’ class on Wednesday

ISHPEMING — It’s been a little over two months since the new roundabout was officially opened on US-41 in Ishpeming. If you know of anyone who is having trouble maneuvering through the intersection, the City of Ishpeming is hosting a presentation Wednesday concerning roundabout safety.

The presentation will be held at the Ski Hall of Fame, right next to the roundabout at 4:00 p.m. Representatives from the Michigan State Police and the Michigan Department of Transportation will be on hand to instruct drivers what to do and what not to do when driving through a roundabout.

“I have actually had people asking for more information about it and it was actually something that we promised we were going to do with the project,” said Slown. “They’re the experts and we want to make sure that people know what the rules are and how to safely navigate through the new intersection.”

If you can’t make tomorrow’s presentation, Slown says there will be a video on the city’s website that shows you how to safely maneuver through the roundabout.
