Residents have new options for health and dental care

CALUMET — Residents in the Calumet area have new options for health and dental care.

The Upper Great Lakes Family Health Center’s Calumet Clinic has a new primary care provider, new dental services and soon, a new location.

The health center held an open house to introduce Dr. Adam Frimodig, a Calumet High School graduate, and an Osteopathic Physician.

Dr. Adam Frimodig said, “I like to think I bring a good well-rounded approach to all medicine-a little bit of everything in family medicine-and also a little special area osteopathic manipulation that helps a lot of people with back pain, hip pain, headaches and everything in between.”

Northern Houghton and Keweenaw Counties are underserved regions in regards to dental care. The Calumet center began offering dental services in October.

Administrative Director Elise Bur said, “We’re focusing primarily on preventive services, however, we do schedule non-preventive services by appointment.”

The Calumet Health Center will move into the new U.P. Health System Calumet Clinic building in the spring, where they will be able to expand their services even more.
