Nassiri appeal not moving to Michigan Supreme Court

LANSING — The case of a Dollar Bay man convicted of murdering his wife in 2014 won’t be heard by the Michigan Supreme Court.

An order was issued this week by the court denying Nima Nassiri his application for leave to appeal a judgment made earlier this year by the Michigan Court of Appeals. That court denied Nassiri’s request to have his conviction overturned back in April. Nassiri claimed his attorney had made errors, resulting in an unfair trial.

The order states that the Supreme Court was not persuaded that they should review the case, and a motion to remand was denied. Nassiri is currently serving a term of at least 20 years in prison.
