Huge crowd packs NMU for ‘Lighting Up the Holidays’
MARQUETTE — It’s become one of the most anticipated events at Northern Michigan University at this time of the year the last 28 years. And you can make it 29 years now, as NMU invited the public to the University Center Wednesday for its annual Lighting Up the Holidays event.
From 5:00-8:00 p.m., kids had the chance to experience the holiday season in a number of different fashions. From face painting to holiday crafts, card making and even a visit with Santa, around 400 kids and their families enjoyed all of the activities at no cost to them.
“This is a wonderful way for us to share the campus with the community and say thank you for supporting us over the years and giving kids a wonderful experience here on campus, it’s just a wonderful night,” said Elizabeth Peterson, sales manager at Simply Superior.
One of the biggest attractions at the event was the Horse Drawn Hayrides that took people for a nice evening stroll around campus.
