Public Forums hosted by Eagle Mine
MARQUETTE– If you’re interested in learning more about Eagle Mine or have any concerns or comments you have to voice, there are still three more chances to do so.
Eagle mine held their first of four forums yesterday evening at the Eagle Mine Information Center.
The other three will be held in Big Bay, Humboldt and Michegamme. At the forums the public can listen to representatives from Eagle, learn more about the company as well as voice their own comments and concerns.
“The primary goal during our community forums is to provide that two way engagement with the community, to give us an opportunity to explain how we’re doing as a business, what our safety record looks like, what our environmental performance looks like,” said Eagle Mine External Relations Manager Matt Jackson, “but most importantly learn from the community what’s on their mind.”
One notable update is a new mineralized zone that they are calling Eagle East. They one day hope to mine that locations but currently do not have any ideas on a set date that operations in the area could begin.
Jackson said, “This is an opportunity that we feel could expand the life of Eagle Mine and we would love to give an update on that.”
Besides Eagle East, Jackson said the forum focused on their safety and environmental record as well as the slight increase of metal prices over the past few months.
The next forum will be at the Thunder Bay Inn in Big Bay tomorrow from 5:30 to 7 P.M. After that there will be forums at Michagimme township hall on Thursday, December 1st and one more in the Humboldt Township Hall Monday, December 5th from 5:30 to 7 P.M.
