Two cities not enforcing parking ban until snow falls
IRON MOUNTAIN / KINGSFORD — Winter parking bans have begun in many areas of the U.P., but thanks to clear weather, some of them aren’t yet being enforced.
Officials from the Iron Mountain Police Department and Kingsford Public Safety say that due to current weather conditions, officers in those jurisdictions will not be enforcing the overnight parking ban. Enforcement will begin when the first measurable snowfall requiring the deployment of plows arrives. Police ask that residents of both cities be aware of approaching weather systems forecasting snow and remove their vehicles from streets, alleys, and city-owned parking lots as enforcement will begin that evening without further notice.
The winter parking ban went into effect Tuesday and will continue through March 31st for Kingsford residents and April 30th for those in Iron Mountain. It prohibits parking of vehicles in the aforementioned locations between the hours of 2:00 a.m. and 7:00 a.m.
