New National Historical Park superintendent reports in

HOUGHTON — The Keweenaw National Historical Park has someone new at the helm.

27-year-veteran of the National Park Service Wyndeth Davis is the new Superintendent of the Keweenaw National Historical Park. She gave her first report to the Advisory Council at their quarterly meeting, showing she is already becoming heavily involved in the park after only being on the job for about a month.

Having been the Associate Manager for Interpretive Planning for the National Park Service, Davis had many opportunities to visit the Copper County.

KNHP Superintendent Wyndeth Davis said, “I love the passion that people have for learning about, for sharing and for interpreting to the public the rich history of the area.” The park will be celebrating its 25th anniversary next year, on the heels of this year’s centennial celebration of the park service.

Davis says her goal is to keep a good thing going.

Davis said, “To try and make sure that every child, at least every child in Michigan, understands the importance of this area and this history, not only to Michigan-not only to the Upper Peninsula, but to the country and to the world.”
