Former employee files lawsuit against popular gym
MARQUETTE — A local fitness business is getting sued in Federal Court by a former employee.
According to U.S. District Court documents, Marquette County resident Michael Darlington–West is suing Motions, LLC of Marquette.
Darlington–West alleges that during an approximately eight–month tenure as a personal trainer at Motions that he was not paid overtime despite being required to work additional hours making cold calls, taking mandatory training, and participating in after–hours activities. He is also accusing the business of both weight discrimination and sexual harassment.
“We are disappointed that Michael Darlington-West has decided to make these unfounded and untrue allegations. We at Motions strive to provide every opportunity and tool for our personal trainers to succeed,” said Motions, LLC owner Mike Koskiniemi.
Koskiniemi added that he has yet to be served papers from the court about the lawsuit.
