MARQUETTE — One week from Tuesday, the Carolina Hurricanes and the Buffalo Sabres will drop the puck at Lakeview Arena. That game will be the final chapter on what will be a fun few days in Marquette.

There are a number of events planned in Marquette in honor of the arena being named ‘Kraft Hockeyville USA.’ A 5K run will take place Saturday morning, with proceeds going to benefit additional renovations to Lakeview Arena.

NMU is also getting in on the fun, with an open skate Sunday at the Berry Events Center, as well as a Hockeyville Fun Fair at the Superior Dome.

“This is a huge community celebration for hockey and Lakeview Arena,” said Andrew MacIver, Marquette Parks and Recreation Coordinator. “It’s all in part thanks to Kraft and the NHL. With us winning this event and them giving us this extra money to help us with the prize money to get this place turned around, it’s just a great thing to get the community thinking about the importance of this place.”

The lottery winners for tickets to the game will be announced on Facebook Wednesday. You must pickup your tickets Saturday at the 5K or Sunday at the Superior Dome.

A total of 2,6000 tickets will be given away to the game. For more information on the Hockeyville USA events, click HERE.
