Upper Peninsula Democrats celebrate new headquarters
MARQUETTE– It may be 62 days until election day, but some Democrats in the Upper Peninsula have found some reason to celebrate.
The Marquette County Democratic Party and Coordinated Campaign Headquarters celebrated it’s grand opening. Party supporters gathered to eat, chat and watch speeches from Democratic Candidates including congressional candidate Lon Johnson. Members of the party said they were eager to see what their new headquarters will do for their campaign.
“We’re looking for a victory this year, we urge folks who are concerned about people on the ballet, please join us.” said Co-Chair of the Headquarters Committees of the MCDP Jack LaSalle, “We hope we’re going to have a very good year and you can be a part of it too.”
“We’re here to kick off the campaign and get things rolling, there’s 62 days till election day so it’s crunch time now,” said Democratic Party Volunteer Ellen Lindblom, “We have a nominee now, we have campaigns getting off the ground, so we’re here to celebrate and get motivated to win.”
The Headquarters will be used to organize volunteers and put together the campaign for Marquette County. LaSalle said the they had around two hundred and fifty volunteers but were always looking for more.
