Crew practices for worst case scenario
ESCANABA — Civil Air Patrol members from the Upper Peninsula were among those who got a chance to practice their search and rescue skills.
Fifty-eight members of the patrol’s Michigan Wing — including four from the Escanaba Squadron — gave up their weekend to take part in a short notice exercise. That exercise involved members working together to locate a “crashed” aircraft and provide first aid to an injured pilot.
Four aircraft helped guide ground crews to the “crashed” craft in downstate Reed City. The exercise allowed members to use techniques like aerial search, cell phone forensics, and electronic search techniques.
