Head-on collision sends two to hospital
SAGOLA TOWNSHIP — Two people were sent to the hospital Wednesday after a head-on collision in Sagola Township.
Troopers from the Michigan State Police Iron Mountain Post say the crash happened near the intersection of M-95 and M-69 around 4:00 p.m. The vehicle driven by Connie Cherubini, 64 of Sagola, was traveling south on M-95. Cherubini attempted to turn east onto Leeman Road, but she turned into the path of the northbound vehicle of Cody Bednarz, 20 of Kingsford.
Bednarz was transported to Dickinson County Memorial Hospital by Star EMS for treatment of an apparent leg injury. Cherubini was taken to the same hospital by family for treatment of minor injuries. Police say both drivers were wearing seat belts and airbags in the vehicles did deploy. Alcohol is not believed to have been a factor in the accident.
Troopers were assisted at the scene by the Dickinson County Sheriff’s Department, Star EMS, and the Sagola Township Fire Department.
