Local hospital nationally recognized for radiology
ISHPEMING — The Radiology Department at UP Health System – Bell has earned two nationally recognized accreditations.
The American College of Radiology has accredited UP Health System – Bell as a Breast Imaging Center of Excellence in mammography, stereotactic breast biopsy, breast ultrasound and ultrasound-guided breast biopsy. This accreditation comes from the Commission on Quality and Safety and the Commission on Breast Imaging of the American College of Radiology.
The second recognition comes from Image Wisely/Gently: Radiation Safety in Adult and Pediatric Medical Imaging. Image Wisely/Gently is an organization “commited to raising awareness throughout the medical community about opportunities for eliminating unnecessary imaging exams” and “lowering the amount of radiation used in necessary imaging exams to only that needed to capture optimal medical images.” This recognition from Image Wisely/Gently demonstrates that UP Health System – Bell is committed to promoting safety in medical imaging.
Dr. Todd Bostwick, Radiologist at UP Health System – Bell, said, “Bell makes every effort to make sure each Mammogram is read before the patient leaves, so the patients are aware of the outcome and there are no call backs. And, in most cases, if a biopsy is necessary it can be done on the same day.”
Bob Forchini, Director of Radiology at UP Health System – Bell, added, “These recognitions from the American College of Radiology and Image Wisely/Gently stand to prove the quality of what we do right here in Ishpeming, right here at Bell. We care about our patients and their families, and we use the safest methods and the most proven techniques.”
