'Art on the Rocks' entering 58th year

MARQUETTE– If you’re looking to attend a top–notch art show this weekend, look no further than Mattson Lower Harbor Park.

Artists are gearing up for the 58th annual Art on the Rocks this weekend. The event will feature live music and around 175 artists and craftsmen.

Artists are selected to attend by a judging panel and through a jury process. Organizers say close to two hundred artists apply to attend the event and around 60% of those are chosen. The festival gives attendees a chance to see some awesome work.

Art on the Rocks Director Jason Limberg said, “I’m super excited. For me as an artist myself it’s great to get out and talk to fellow artists and see other people’s creations and stuff. So that’s what I love about it.”

Organizers say that somewhere around 10 thousand people usually attend the event, but Limberg says he expects more due to the great weather we’re forecasted to have this weekend.

This year is the first time Art on the Rocks has promoted bands since they’ve switched locations.
