Small fire in popular bakery

MARQUETTE — A small fire occurred in one of Marquette’s most beloved bakeries.

Babycakes called the Marquette City Fire Department around 1 p.m. after a fire began on one of the baking ovens. Although the fire was small, the fire department followed every safety precaution they could to ensure the fire wouldn’t spread.

“We had to open up the floor a little bit to make sure that we got all the extension because there was three layers of flooring” said Marquette City Fire Department, Captain Green.

No one was injured during the incident and the cause is unknown. Captain Green did want to confirm that Babycakes is safe and still serving delicious food.
