NEGAUNEE — Year after year, one car show in Negaunee keeps getting bigger and bigger.

Last year’s Pioneer Week Car Show at Pasquali’s included over a hundred automobiles. Even more were expected this year. The array of cars included everything from Model A’s to Model T’s and street rods. 23 years ago, Clark Gravedoni put this thing together for the first time.

“And I did it on a Saturday night with about a dozen cars. We did that for a couple of years and then decided to move it to Wednesday on Pioneer Week,” he recalled, “So it’s been that way ever since. This is our 23rd year now. It keeps getting bigger and bigger every year. And we keep running out of room for cars.”

Gravedoni describes the annual show as an “informal car show cruise”.

“Everybody drives out, brings their car in, gives about three hours for everybody to take a look at them. And then we go for a cruise at nine through Negaunee, up to Ishpeming, and then back to Negaunee again.”

The show lasted from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m.
