State Park hosts fourth of July Parade for kids
CHAMPION — Today marked the annual Fourth of July Jubilation at Van Riper State Park.
As part of the jubilation, kids had a chance to decorate their bikes and go on a parade around the park as part of the jubilation. The kids decorated their bikes with streamers, ribbons and other patriotic garb before riding around for a cheering crowd.
Many kids said they were excited for the parade, but were looking forward to seeing some fireworks. Organizers said the event was supposed to give kids something fun to do for the holiday.
“This is just something I wanted to put on, something that breaks up their day.” Said Explorer Guide Emily Wright. “We had scheduled it so that they could go to the Ishpeming parade this morning, come back, and hopefully have a day full of Fourth of July fun.”
Yes it is my first time and it is my first time doing this. I’ve never done this before I just got all dressed up because…for this, it’s kind of really fun.”
Other events in the Fourth of July Jubilation included a bouncy house and the Van Riper favorite Minnow Racing.
