Vietnam Wall Memorial rides into town
MARQUETTE — The Vietnam Memorial Wall officially entered Marquette this evening with quite a grand entrance.
The wall was accompanied by more than two-hundred motorcyclists and various law enforcement departments throughout the area.
Citizens of Marquette County welcomed the wall as it made it’s way down U-S 41 through Ishpeming and Negaunee. While the motorcyclists went through Marquette, they were sure to pass the Jacobetti Home for Veterans.
This is just the beginning of various activities that will be happening in part with the arrival of the Vietnam Memorial wall.
Veterans from all over the U-P gathered before the bikes set off and were happy to have such a warm welcome.
The wall was placed on NMU’s campus near the Superior Dome. Activities are set to kick off tomorrow morning and will continue through the end of the week.
