Speed results in rear-end collision

MARQUETTE — One woman was cited for speed after a rear-end collision in Marquette Township early Monday morning.

Michigan State Police from the Negaunee Post say the accident happened at the intersection of US-41 and Commerce Drive around 6:45 a.m. Jilaine Berquist-Ayotte, 53 of Negaunee, was headed eastbound on the inside lane of US-41 in a 2008 Tahoe when she began slowing for traffic stopped at the red light in front of her. She was the struck from behind by a 1999 Saturn driven by Stacy Nardi, 38 of Ishpeming.

No injuries were reported at the scene. Police say Nardi was shown at fault and cited for traveling too fast for conditions. Troopers were assisted at the scene by teh Michigan State Police Motor Carrier Division.
