MARQUETTE — It’s time to grab your bike helmet and get ready to learn about bike safety. A free event was put on this evening by UP Health System–Marquette in collaboration with Kohl’s Department store.

The event, titled “Kohl’s Cares Heads U.P.”, was created to teach children about bike safety. This event gave out free bike helmets to the first 250 children who were 13 and younger.

The hands on learning at this event gave children and their families the opportunity to learn valuable information regarding bike riding.

Volunteer, Chris Nelson said, “They do give out information on bike safety; it’s a great event for kids to come down and I mean, yeah, it’s free.”

Knowledge wasn’t the only thing gained; two lucky children also took home a free bike.
