Another Biggby Coffee opens in the U.P.

HOUGHTON — Coffee drinkers in Houghton got their first taste of a new business in Town. Here’s ABC 10’s Keweenaw Bureau Reporter Rick Allen.

It used to be that the only choice for coffee was regular or decaf. With the opening of Biggby Coffee in downtown Houghton, coffee connoisseurs have a whole new set of selections to choose from.

This is the third location owned by the same family, who also has a store in Marquette. Houghton seemed like the most logical place to expand

Houghton Biggby Coffee store owner Landon Palmer said, “We came here because we love the people and we had a warm welcome and I think that’s what Biggby does to people. It welcomes you right from the get go, until you leave.”

The Michigan–based coffee chain now has more than 250 stores in nine states and as the packed crowd on opening day testifies, the residents here are excited to try it out.

For many, this was their first time trying a coffee with the famous “B” on the cup.

Chassell resident and self–proclaimed coffee lover Macy Holmbo said, “Especially in this area, there’s really not much that comes here that’s new, so it’s always pretty exciting to have something new to come to town and try it and it’s the best.”

And if it is, like many other customers, she’ll be back.
