UPDATE: Three sent to hospital after head on collision
UPDATE — 3:00 p.m. May 31st, 2016 (EST)
The names of the individuals involved in two vehicle head on collision have been released. In a press release from the Marquette County Sheriff’s Office, the driver of the Chevrolet Impala was 49-year-old Richard Lapine of Marquette. The passenger inside the vehicle was 54-year-old Grant Newby, also from Marquette. The Ford Escape in the collision was driven by 77-year-old Marquette resident Janice McLean.
McLean was found to be at fault in the accident and was cited for Careless Driving.
MARQUETTE TOWNSHIP — Three people were taken to the hospital by ambulance after a head on two vehicle accident.
Police responded to the collision located shortly North after the railroad tracks on County Road 550 shortly before 1:30 p.m. According to a member of the Marquette City Police Department, a white Ford Escape was driving South when it crossed the center lane hitting a black Cheverolet Impala head on. The two individuals inside of the Impala are both Marquette residents at ages 49 and 54 respectively. The driver of the Escape is also from Marquette at age 77. All three were all transported to UP Health System – Marquette for what are believed to be non-life threatening injuries. Both vehicles were towed from the scene.
The names of the individuals involved have not been released at this time. The crash remains under investigation by the Marquette County Sheriff’s Office.
