Added measures taken to prevent meth-making
LANSING — For people trying to solicit the sale of meth–making ingredients, there are new criminal penalties in place thanks to legislation signed into law by Governor Rick Snyder earlier today.
The new Senate and House bills make changes to penalties relating to the sale of meth–making ingredients.
Senate Bill 409 authorizes up to one year in prison and a $1,000 fine for attempting to persuade a person to purchase ingredients use to manufacture meth.
And House Bill 4864 imposes a five year “stop sale alert” on people convicted of trying to persuade someone to buy said ingredients.
Governor Snyder says it’s a step necessary to protecting the lives and futures of our children, as well as the safety of Michigan families.
