UPDATE: Amber Alert issued for missing girl
UPDATE — Thursday May 12, 2016 8:00 p.m. (EDT) The missing downstate girl has been found in Florida. Details as to how she was found have not yet been released, but count on ABC 10 to keep you up to date as more information rolls in.
UPDATE — Thursday May 12, 2016 12:05 p.m. (EDT) New information has become available in the case of a missing downstate girl.
According to an Amber Alert issued by the Hamburg Township Police Department late Thursday morning, authorities are now on the lookout for a 2001 Red Ford Escape with Michigan registration “2HVA18.” The vehicle was last seen at 500 Bishop Lake Road and Chilson Road in downstate Brighton.
It is believed that seven-year-old Sapphire Elizabeth Palmer and her mother, Amanda Elizabeth Hayward, are in the company of 64-year-old Douglas Stanko, a registered sex offender. Police say Amanda Hawyard is suffering from an apparent mental episode, is delusional, and may be armed with a 9mm high point semi-automatic handgun.

UPDATE — Wednesday May 11, 2016 10:00 p.m. (EDT) At approximately 6:00pm this evening a Hamburg Township police officer assigned to the Livingston and Washtenaw Narcotics Enforcement Team (LAWNET) located the black 2001 Chevrolet Prizm that Amanda Hayward and her daughter were last seen leaving their residence in. The vehicle was located in Ypsilanti Township and was unoccupied.
The investigation and search is still ongoing and further information will be forthcoming.
HAMBURG TOWNSHIP., Mich. — The Hamburg Township Police Department is asking for the public’s help in attempting to locate a 30-year old female Hamburg Township resident and her 7-year old daughter.
Amanda Elizabeth Hayward was last seen leaving her Hamburg Township residence in the area of Chilson Road & Bishop Lake Road at 3:00am on May 10, 2016. She left the location with her 7-year old daughter (Sapphire Elizabeth Palmer) in a black 2001 Chevrolet Prizm bearing Michigan License Plate of “CC86371.”
Ms. Hayward’s purse, containing contents belonging to her including credit cards and cash, was found on the side of the road several miles from her residence at approximately 6:30am on May 10, 2016. The 7-year old daughter failed to show up at her school (located in Hamburg Township) on May 10, 2016 and on May 11, 2016.
Amanda Hayward is a 30-year-old white female with long strawberry blonde hair and blue eyes. She is 5’7 in height and weighs 120 lbs.
Sapphire Palmer is a 7 year old white with long red hair. She is approximately 4′ tall and weighs 55lbs. She was last seen wearing a purple night gown.
Anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of Amanda Hayward and/or her daughter or anyone who observes the black 2001 Chevrolet Prizm bearing Michigan License Plate “CC86371” is asked to immediately call 9-1-1.
