Chamber of Commerce hosts fundraiser
ISHPEMING — Vegas is coming to Ishpeming next weekend.
The Greater Ishpeming-Negaunee Area Chamber of Commerce is throwing their first fundraiser of the year, Vegas style.
Participants will receive a cup of gaming tokens to play games like Blackjack and three-card poker. Guests can exchange ten tokens for a raffle ticket that goes into a drawing for various prizes, including the grand prize: a trip to Las Vegas.
“Even though I’m working the event, it’s still fun for me to be there and I don’t really feel like I’m working at this event, just because everyone is having so much fun,” said interim director Ashley Geist. “It’s very laid back, it’s very relaxed and casual and people are just there to simply have a good time. They’re not there to race, they’re not there to network, they’re just because they want to have a good time.”
There’s still stuff to do for non-gamblers like bowling, putt-putt, spa services by All About You and free jewelry cleaning by Wattson and Wattson.
The event will take place Saturday, May 14 from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. at the Red Rock Lanes and Banquet Center in Ishpeming. Tickets are $25 per person and can be purchased at the chamber of commerce or at the door.
