Man arrested on multiple OWI charges
FORSYTH TOWNSHIP — A six-month investigation by the Forsyth Township Police Department has resulted in the arrest of a man on four different charges.
Thirty-year old Dave Michael Nykanen of Gwinn was arrested by police for an accident that took place on July 25th, 2015. On that date, police say Nykanen was driving on M-35 near County Road 557 when his car left the roadway and rolled over.
A woman riding with Nykanen was ejected and pinned underneath the vehicle. The woman and Nykanen both suffered serious injuries as a result of the accident.
Nykanen was arrested Tuesday by police for operating while intoxicated causing serious injury, operating while intoxicated – third offense, operating a vehicle with a suspended license causing serious injury and lying to a police officer. He is scheduled for a preliminary exam in Marquette County District Court on April 26th.
The Marquette County Sheriff’s Office assisted the Forsyth Township Police Department in their investigation.
